  1. one thing that would work perfectly (and i idk if already there) would be a funtion to take a screenshot (highlight), i would basically choose a key ex:PrtSc and once pressed, this specific screenshot would be highlighted in the timeline, i would be able to use filters to choose the highliteds screenshot only. i play alot of video games to learn english vocabulary (words mining) and i use sharex to take screenshots, the only problem is that not all softwares recognize the screenshots keys once you are with the game tab selected, i think the same thing would happen with…

  2. If that's not possible, maybe you can provide an SHA checksum with each installer so that we can be sure we're installing the file you provided.

  3. Return the Flag type.

    Users were able to use the flag type to auto color the pins and could to this via the keyboard. Having to click on the color via the mouse and then choose a colour is a major slow down.

    Removing It also killing 17 year of muscle memory.

    NB The Flag report still shows Flag Type which you appear to no longer be able to update.

  4. We intend to use this for debugging on our employees computers. For this it would be necessary to limit the recorded time to 5 or 10 minutes.

    We would also like to have the possibility to save this recording indefinitely. The idea is to use it like a car dashcam for a computer: if a crash/bug happens, you can save a recording of the last couple of minutes before the incident occurred to identify what led to the problem.

  5. When looking at the tracktion that https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38787892 got because it constantly uses OCR to make any text that appeared on any of the screens searchable (see demo video at https://www.loom.com/share/091a48b318f04f22bdada62716298948 ) I think it would be very valuable to add this feature using a fast (and office independent) OCR engine

  6. I just moved to a new computer and in the process accidentally discovered that there is now a 3.9.2.0 release which fixes at least one of the issues I have been having (URL-detection in current browsers - a big thanks for fixing that! 👍). It would have been nice to know about this... My update check kept telling me I was up to date (I was on 3.9.0.3).

  9. Hi, we are no longer able to install .net 3.5 and lower on our laptops. Any chance this could run on .net framework 4.8 (or anything about 3.5)?

  10. I often want to pause my recording briefly but then I forget to turn the recording back on and realize hours later that I haven't been recording. It would be nice to have a way to pause the recording for a little while (maybe with a configurable time period or maybe with some pre-defined time periods) and have it automatically begin recording at the end of that period (maybe with a notification that recording has resumed).

    Thank you for creating and maintaining this software. I have been a Windows user for many, many years and this was one of the…

  11. Would be great to have TimeSnapper tested to be compatible with Windows 11.

    Testing is likely to be boring, so I would also like to have a functionality to donate money for development.
    E.g. 10 USD here and now.

  12. Can we remove the TimeSnapper limit of maximum 3 screens? For the majority of my use case, all of the computers have 4 screens attached.

  13. to see the contents of flags we currently need to
    - either open reports, choose flags and set the date range
    - or hover the mouse over every flag in the browse day screen

    It would be very helpfull to temporarily enable to see all flag texts within one day when beeing in the browse day screen.
    Maybe show them as balloon tips or add an additional header area to show them.

  14. Encryption is really important with such sensitive data as screenshots and captured data. There is an encryption but there is no description on what methods are used. Therefore it cannot be considered secure at all and must be fixed.

    One may guess it may well be just a hardcoded passwort now since the pictures are encrypted without reentering the password after system start.

    OpenSSL or alike should and could be used easily to create a keypair with the public key being unencrypted and the private key being encrypted by the user passwored stored in the Timesnapper DB (with a seperat…

  17. Hi.

    I'd like to save my daily tasks to database. I use sharepoint to save almost everything. I need a additional data from the timesnapper pictures like program name from snapshot program window that I have used.

    First, I need more information to the snapshot pictures. File properties like
    Title => Program name
    Caption => filename if exists

    Second, if it is possible, a connection to Sharepoint to save pictures automatically to Sharepoint-library.

    Thanks, TimeSnapper is creat tool.

  19. Would it be possible to have the mouse pointer captured when it is left or right clicked - movement not needed just the left or right click - an added bonus would be to surround the mouse with a yellow-filled circle to show the mouse was clicked "here"

  20. I was thinking that difference between images may compress better as videos since the codec is designed to stream the pixel areas that are changed from the keyframe. Seems like h.264 or even h.265 can compress like images from snapshot to snapshot better than saving them individually. I did a test of some JPGs that are 11MB for a few hours and the same mp4 I made a slideshow from is about 8MB.
